Afternoon after Helene hit Asheville earlier on September 27, 2024. A neighbor begins clearing a main road in our Beaverdam development. I join him, removing debris as he cuts, alternating with making this video. Neighbors take notice and start joining us.

The third day after Helene hit, we reached the neighborhood road with the highest elevation, a section of our development that is in the county.
Neighbors joined my neighbor Larry and me as we proceeded up our road leaving the city of Asheville and entering a county road. We cleared a neighbor's driveway.

A snake at first has trouble sliding on the chips from yard work after Helene. Then, the snake gets on the asphalt and is okay. With all the disruption due to Helene, many snakes had to find new homes. Location: Beaverdam Area, Asheville, North Carolina, USA.
The Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) removes a huge tree from my neighbor's house. MDS started work on October 10, 2024 and finished the next day.

October 10, 2024, 7:30 pm. My wife and I went shopping in the evening to buy lunch meats and cheese for the Mennonite volunteers coming the next day. This way, the ice we purchased with the food could stay cold as we had no electricity. Also, we had no faucet water. My wife entered from the rear deck, but I used the front entrance to shoot this video.
This video is my documentary of the Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) removing a tree from my house after Hurricane Helene. They cleverly used a nearby tree for a pulley system, supporting the tree on the house as they removed it. The five volunteers came down to Asheville from other states.

The nonprofit organization WaterStep provided drinking water and flushing water for us. Due to night temperature drops, the Fire Station on Beaverdam Road allowed the purification station to be stored at the station overnight. Volunteer Keith explains.

I had Starlink installed October 28, 2024 by John Stephens of WNC Home Watch & Handyman Serivce. Our fiber kept getting cut by workers picking up debris and moving wood chips around. Also, debris at the street covered the AT&T fiber terminal enclosure, compromising AT&T repair access.

Neighbor James Swinger uses a Cat Skid Steer to remove a large stump and push it to the debris pile. I shot the video of James on November 2, 2024. I am posting this video in the summer of 2025 and we are still doing cleanup and repairs. One home two houses over a short distance is still unlivable.

November 20, 2024. Weeks after Helene, damaged trees kept falling. Here is one across the road at night, which blocked my wife and I returning home. I called my neighbor Larry and it was pushed to the side of the road in 15 minutes. Thanks, Larry!
I moved to Beaverdam in 1989 and I do not recall seeing a bobcat in my yard until after Helene. This one could have been displaced by Helene. My wife also saw one in our neighbor's yard after Helene hit us.
April 19, 2025. Four bears roam through seven yards, some yards still recovering from Helene.
Lower your volume as the saw is shrill. FEMA cleanup (May 7, 2025) after Hurricane Helene that occurred earlier (09/27/2024). The tree was judged dangerous as it could possibly fall on my neighbor's house in the future.
Damaged and leaning trees kept falling during months after Helene. Angel Landscaping took down a dozen damaged trees on July 31, 2025.
